Raajje Television Private Limited has been summoned to Civil Court following the defamation suit filed by the Commissioner General of Taxation, Yazeed Mohamed.
The summon order was confirmed by Raajje TV to Sun Media.
A court order issued by the Civil Court yesterday said that Raajje TV is being summoned to due to the defamation suit filed by Yazeed Mohamed to get a return for the defamation.
Commissioner General of Taxation, Yazeed filed suit following a news published by Raajje TV on 30 July with the title implying that the Commissioner General Yazeed was evading tax on his private business.
Civil Court ordered Raajje TV to appear in court on 4 September 2016 at 1:45 p.m.
A news article published on Raajje MV said that Yazeed has rented his apartment 3B at Rehendhi Flat for USD 2000. It is it a flat awarded by the Government last year to some judges and heads of independent institutes in an effort to increase integrity.
Yazeed’s suit is will be pursued under the law of getting a return for defamation since the events took place before the Anti-Defamation Law was passed.
Raajje TV has been taken to court in a defamation suit on a previous occasion as well.
