Hand grenade discovered ashore Hulhule’

A hand grenade has been discovered ashore Hulhule’, near Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA) Fuel Terminal.

The grenade was discovered by an airport employee on the shore towards south of the Fuel Terminal.

“Sun” has been informed that the discovery was reported to authorities last Wednesday, and that the hand grenade is now in the hands of Maldives National Defense Force.

MNDF Information Officer, Major Adnan Mohamed informed “Sun” that the type of hand grenade discovered in Hulhule’ was usually used for military training.

“Looks most likely the type used for trainings. I cannot reveal any further information rights now as the matter is under investigation,” said Adnan.

The hand grenade was discovered in a plastic bag with the safety clip still intact.

“Sun” has been informed that some of the airport officials had stepped on it, not knowing it was a hand grenade.
