PPM says no to Committee request regarding Faris

Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) office has informed the party’s Disciplinary Committee that they cannot enforce the Committee’s decision to remove Dhiggaru MP Ahmed Faris Maumoon from the party.

The letter rejecting the Disciplinary Committee’s request was sent by PPM Deputy Secretary-General Abdul Aleem to Chair of Disciplinary Committee Ali Waheed Abdul Rahman.

Aleem said that as per regulation on disciplinary issues of PPM, disciplinary complaints needed to be written in a form and submitted to PPM office.

He said that PPM Parliamentary Group made the complaint regarding Faris to Disciplinary Committee via a letter, and a copy had been sent to PPM office.

“Disciplinary complaints need to be submitted to this office in a form, even if it’s the Parliamentary Group,” read the letter sent by Aleem.

Aleem noted that Ali Waheed had said in the letter sent to him that the issue had been looked into by the Committee after the decision to look into was verbally endorsed during a Committee meeting, but that PPM office had not received any official documents regarding the said meeting.

“I therefore inform you that we cannot yet enforce your decision as we have not received any official documentation of the said meeting’s attendance and minutes, and the decision of the Committee,” said Aleem.
