Medical tourism forecast done by Indian research firm, Renub Research, shows a huge drop in number of Maldivians visiting India for medical treatment.
It was noted in the research report that Maldives used to be the second leading market for Indian medical tourism industry after Bangladesh, but that the numbers have dropped leading to
Maldives being replaced by Afghanistan as the second leading market.
The research was based on data collected on medical tourist arrivals and spending on medical tourism from top 63 countries.
The report, released on Thursday, shows that Russia is turning out to be an emerging source market for Indian medical tourism industry.
It shows that Germany, France and Canada medical tourist numbers are on an upward trajectory, and also that Nigeria and Iraq holds a massive potential for India.
