Akram Kamalluddin has resigned as Chairman of private television channel – RajjeTV.
RajjeTV broke the news through their official Twitter account on Saturday night that Akram had resigned as Chairman of RajjeTV, and had also left the company which runs the television channel – Television Private Limited – selling off his shares.

Akram is a politician and member of opposition – Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), and serves as President of MDP Male’ region.
He also served as Minister of State for Environment and Energy during MDP’s administration.
He is the Media Secretary of the Shadow Cabinet, formed by Maldives United Opposition.
“Sun” has been informed that Akram is currently out of the country.
An anonymous witness testified in court that he and former Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed had been behind the attempt to arrest President Abdulla Yameen using a bogus court order.
Police are working on bringing both Akram and Jameel in for questioning.
