Famous Maldivian film star Sheela Najeeb, the daughter of attorney and author Ahmed Najeeb who was found brutally murdered back in 2012, has said that she cannot forgive Ahmed Murrath – sentenced to death in Najeeb’s murder – and that she wished for his execution to be expedited.
Sheela spoke to “Sun” and said that she did not think any of her father’s next-of-kin would forgive Murrath.
“I, for sure, will not forgive. I want for the person who killed my father to be given capital punishment,” said Sheela.
Najeeb has eight next-of-kin including Sheela, who all testified during the murder trial at Criminal Court that they wanted “an eye for an eye”.
Sheela said that she did not believe Murrath had been under the influence of drugs and not of sound mind when he murdered her father.
“It was after all that, wasn’t it, that he took my father’s cash card number and did all that. They were of sound mind if they made plans to dispose of the body like that, after the murder,” said Sheela.

Najeeb was murdered on the night of June 30, 2012 after he was lured into an apartment in H. Masroora by Murrath’s then-lover, and now wife - Fathimath Hana.
H. Masroorage is Murrath’s home, and the apartment in question is where he lived with Hana.
Murrath had sat Najeeb down in an office chair when he arrived, and bound his hands and legs with tape. Putting more tape around his mouth and face.
Murrath confessed in court to stabbing Najeeb in the throat with a knife and killing him because he was making too much noise.
He lost the last stage of appeal last week when Supreme Court ruled to uphold the death sentence against him.
Maldives Correctional Service has not yet released a date for when Murrath will be executed.
