Police: Political activities cannot be held near mosques

Maldives Police Service has said that political activities would not be allowed to be conducted inside or near mosques.

The opposition coalition has announced that a special prayer would be held at the Islamic Center area after the Eid Prayer tomorrow.

While the announcement has been made, Police said that mosques are sacred places and conducting political activity in and around mosques is against the law.

Police said that they have decided to stop any political activity taking place in and around mosques.

Maldives United Opposition (MUO) requested that as many people as possible come to the Islamic Center for the Eid Prayer tomorrow and join the prayer by the MUO and wait to send the Eid greetings to President Yameen.
