Foreign Minister Resigns

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dunya Maumoon has resigned from her position.

Foreign Ministry confirmed the resignation of the daughter of the President of PPM and the former President of the Maldives, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, to Sun Media.

While the Foreign Minister resigned, the relationship between the President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and the former President Maumoon has taken a turn for the worse creating turmoil in the ruling party PPM.

As Dunya resigns, PPM has decided to dismiss her brother, the MP for Dhiggaru constituency, Ahmed Faaris Maumoon from the party.

The decision to dismiss Faaris Maumoon was made at a meeting of the Committee for Conduct held without the permission of the President of the Party, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. Maumoon ordered his party not to hold any Committee meetings without his permission.
