Former Minister of Home Affairs Umar Naseer visited Mafannu Villa – the residence of leader of Jumhoory Party (JP) Qasim Ibrahim – to secure his support for the upcoming presidential election on Monday night.
Speaking to press outside Mafannu Villa after his visit, Umar confirmed that he visited Qasim to ask for his support in his bid to compete in the upcoming presidential election.
He said that no one had come to power without Qasim’s backing, as was evident in presidential election of 2008 and 2013. And that he hoped Qasim would back him, this time around.
“Qasim Ibrahim is the king maker. This is why I came to him. He made no commitment, but said he would think about it,” said Umar.
In answer to a question posed by reporter as to whether he believed something could come up preventing him from participating in the election, Umar said that, “my competitor in Presidential Election 2018 will have no ace of spade up his sleeve.”
