Local Government Authority (LGA) has invalidated the decision to suspend two director-generals of the organization.
The two directors suspended after complaints on June 30 are:
1. Director-General of Planning and Monitoring, Shammoon Adam
2. Director-General of Corporate Services, Adam Shareef
Vice President of LGA, Moosa Naseer Ahmed spoke to “Sun” on Monday and said that though it was decided during the Board meeting held on June 29 to remove Chief Executive Officer Farooq Mohamed Hassan from his post, no decision was made to suspend Shammoon or Shareef.
“I am in charge of LGA right now. This is something I was not informed of. I got to know about it when it came out in the media. The statement is incorrect. LGA Board made no decision to suspend anyone,” said Naseer.
He said that the decision to suspend the tow director-generals was made by Farooq. And that he had been removed from his post as CEO when the made the decision.
He said that the statement given to media regarding the suspension was also incorrect.
“I think it’s most likely the statement was given because Farooq was angry about his termination. It was invalidated as it wasn’t the decision of LGA,” said Naseer.
An official from LGA who spoke to “Sun” earlier said that Shammoon and Shareef was suspended from LGA over complaints of corruption.
Naseer said that the complaints had already been investigated, with audits comping up with no issues.
