Met: A Rainy Eid for the south, good weather for rest of Maldives

National Meteorological Service forecasts it to be rainy in southern part of Maldives this coming Eid al-Fitr, but altogether good weather conditions for the rest of the country.

Director of Met Office, Ahmed Rasheed said that the current bad weather conditions was due to Hulhangu (south-west) monsoon, and that the bad weather would continue in the southern part of the country during Eid holiday.

“It’s expected that Hulhangu monsoon rain will affect the country from time to time, not much, but rainier in the south than central and northern parts of the country,” said Ahmed.

He said that the weather wasn’t so bad that travel was dangerous. But that strong winds and rough seas were expected to some parts of the country starting from Saturday.

The rain has already hit some parts of Maldives.
