Police begins monitoring ferries due to bad weather – unsafe to carrying motorcycles

Maldives Marine Police Service has started monitoring the ferry service to Villi-malé and Hulhumalé from Malé City due to the strong winds and heavy rains in the area.

Police said that carrying motorcycles on the ferries are not safe at this time and so be cautious about it. And advised caution to all vessels travelling in the Malé area.

MET Office estimated heavy rains and thunderstorms across the country.

While winds are expected to pick up to 15 mph from the south and southeast in the Southern Atolls, it is expected to be 10-20 mph from south and southwest in other areas. Winds area expected to be at 45-50 mph during showers.

As the seas in the South are expected to be moderately calm and rough during showers, the sea is expected to be rough in the other areas.
