People’s Majlis, on Tuesday, approved Foreign Secretary Dr. Ali Naseer as the new Maldivian permanent resident at the United Nations, Maldivian ambassador to US, and non-residential Maldivian ambassador to Canada.
Dr. Ali Naseer secured approval with 57 votes. No one voted to reject the decision. But one member remained neutral.
Ahmed Shiyaan was also granted approval as the new non-residential ambassador to Netherlands and Luxemburg with 61 votes. No one voted against the decision.
The names of Dr. Ali Naseer and Ahmed Shiyaan were sent to Committee on National Security for review on June 7.
The report sent by Committee to Majlis reads that both the individuals were capable enough to be appointed to the posts without further interview.
