Agreement signed to introduce Green Building concept

Environment Ministry has signed an agreement with the Maldives National University (MNU) to introduce Green Building concept in the courses being conducted at the MNU.

At a special ceremony held at the Environment Ministry today, the agreement was signed by the Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim and the Vice Chancellor of MNU, Dr. Ali Favaz.

The Environment Ministry said that the Bachelor level Architecture Courses being conducted at the Faculty of Engineering at MNU would be reviewed under the agreement to include the Green Building concepts.

And the said that the Ministry would be providing assistance to design a Master’s level course with the Green Building concept.

MNU would be receiving a financial aid of MVR 1.3 million under the Strengthening Low Carbon Energy Island Strategies by signing on the agreement.

The Strengthening Low Carbon Energy Island Strategies is a project conducted by the Environment Ministry and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) with the help of Global Environment Facility (GEF).
