Former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Gafoor has appealed his 10-year jail sentence for weapons possession with High Court.
He was sentenced to jail on June 5 after Criminal Court found him guilty of possession of two pistols and explosives, which anonymous witnesses testified to seeing him with on May 1, 2015.
Adeeb’s defense attorney Moosa Siraj confirmed to “Sun” that the case was filed for appeal on Monday.
Press were barred from entering the courtroom during the trial for “national security reasons”.
Adeeb was served a separate sentence of 15 years in prison after he was found guilty of masterminding the explosion onboard presidential speedboat “Finifenma” to assassinate
President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
