Witness: Can’t be sure Mahloof tried to escape

A Police Officer presented as an eye witness by the prosecution again Mahloof has said that he can’t be sure if Mahloof ran, while leaving the courthouse after his remand hearing, with the intention to escape.

Speaking at the hearing today against MP Ahmed Mahloof with the charged of Obstruction of Police Duties, Police Officer Ahmed Hussain (Gaafu-Alifu Atoll) said that Mahloof ran towards Hilaaleege while leaving the Justice Building after a remand hearing.

He said that when the Police restrained him, he did not struggle.

Officer Ahmed Hassan said that he is not sure if Mahloof ran to escape or not.

After his testimony, Judge Ibrahim Ali said that it concludes the testimonies from the five witnesses presented by the prosecution.

Two of the three witnesses named by Mahloof has already testified in court on a previous hearing.

MP Mahloof was charged after he refused to get on the Police vehicle after repeated orders after an appeal hearing on the night of 3 April around 7 p.m.

The Judge said that the next hearing in the case would be scheduled at a later date.
