A man, two minors arrested in Monday's gang fight

Police have arrested three people – including two minors – in relation to the gang fight which took place in Male’ on Monday night.

Police reported they arrested a 16-year-old boy, a 17-year-old boy and a man above 18 years of age – all Maldivians.

The gang fight took place at around 10 pm near Noor Mosque – located in Henveiru district.

A 21-year-old man was stabbed in the fight, and is being treated at ADK Hospital.

Managing Director of ADK Hospital, Ahmed Affaal spoke to “Sun” on Monday night and said that the man had suffered serious injuries, but nothing life-threatening.

Gang violence in Male’ has increased recently with multiple stabbings reported just this month, as well as the death of two 14-year-olds.

Such incidents show an alarming rate of involvement by minors.
