Swimming banned at Rasfannu after group pours black engine oil

Swimming at the recently developed beach area, Rasfannu, at the south of Malé City, has been banned after a group of people poured black engine oil to the beach.

An official from the Housing Ministry said that the swimming area has been closed after black oil was poured and the Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu will be addressing the media regarding the issue later tonight.

Police is currently investigating the matter. The Police Media Official said that they are investigating the case that was reported at dusk today.

While a group of people have poured black engine oil at the Rasfannu beach, the beach was closed last April after a sewage pipe in the area bursted leaking sewage to the swimming area.

Regarding the issue, Housing Minister Dr. Muizzu said that the sewage pipe was destroyed by the “oppositions” in order to harass the government.
