12 arrested following last night’s gang violence in Addu City

Following the gang violence in Hithadhoo, Addu City last night where five people were injured, 12 people have been arrested today in relation to the case.

Police Media Official told Sun Media that 12 people were arrested today after a special operation conducted by the Police following the violence last night. The official said that the court has remanded ten of the detainees.

The Media Official said that while they were remanded by 15 days, some of them were under the influence when they were arrested.

Commander of the South Police Division, Chief Inspector Hussain Sameer said that the Police are working nonstop to bring all those who were involved in the violence last night to the investigation and will be arresting anyone they need to with a court order.

He also said that different programs are being held to reduce crime in Addu City and the effects of it are been seen.

While five people were injured in gang violence that erupted last night between two gangs, one of them has been brought to Malé City for further treatment.
