President opens the marble area at the Islamic Center

The newly developed marbled floor area at the Islamic center has been officially opened tonight.

It was opened by the President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

The marbled area developed under the free aid from China allows 20,000 people to pray at the same time.

Speaking at the opening ceremony tonight, Housing Minster Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said that a total of 8,300 pieces of marble were installed in the area and noted that it was done in 16 days.

Minister Dr. Muizzu also noted the hard work from the Housing Ministry, MTCC and other companies in the project and expressed his gratitude to them.

The Minister said that with the marble flooring complete, people can now pray near the trees in Ramadan and in the other months.

The project began by removing the existing concrete floor in April.
