Ruling in bogus warrant for President’s arrest case tonight

Criminal Court has scheduled their verdict on case involving creation of a bogus warrant for President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom for this Thursday night.

The verdict will be issued at 11 pm.

Defendants in the case are former Prosecutor General Muhuthaz Muhsin and Chief Magistrate of A. A. Maamingili Court – Ahmed Nihan.

Muhuthaz and Nihan have multiple charges pressed against them.

Muhuthaz has total three charges against him including planning to carry out a terrorist act; while Nihan has total four charges pressed against him including terrorism.

Anonymous state witnesses testified to seeing Muhuthaz arrive at Maamingili via speedboat, and sitting with Nihan with a laptop open – which belongs to Maamingili Court.

Two police officers who testified on behalf of the state accused former Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed of being behind the plan to arrest President Yameen.
