The father of the toddler from A. A. Himandhoo who was handed over to his mother under court order has been arrested by police.
A police media official reported to “Sun” that the man was arrested on Wednesday for obstruction of justice.
Police, along with a team of social workers from Ministry of Gender went to Himandhoo on Wednesday and transported the little boy to Male’ into custody of the boy’s mother to enforce a court order issued by Family Court.
The police media official said that other individuals from Himandhoo had also obstructed justice, and that they would all be investigated.
Videos of the incident with the toddler crying as people from Himandhoo and police clash has gone viral on social media.
