The murder of the two 14-year-olds

Police have shown the videos related to the murders of the two 14-year-old boys, Ahmed Irushan Hilmee and Faathiru Mohamed Ali that took place last Friday to journalists. Below is how the events proceeded.

Murder of Irusham:

A group of boys that belong to the Maafannu group “Vaikanmathi” were inside a pickup truck parked close to the junction of Shaheed Ali Hingun and Majeedhee Magu around 5:30 p.m. on 3 June, Friday. Among those boys was Irushan.

While they were there a group of about six minors come to the area and attacks them and a fight broke out between the two groups. Irusham was also involved in the fight attacking the assailants.

Suddenly it is seen that Irushan is being attacked on the neck with a knife by one of the boys from the attacking group. The attack on Irusham is mostly likely an act of violence in the group fight rather than a direct attack on him.

After the knife attack, the six boys that came to the area left the scene. Meanwhile, one side of Irushan’s neck was soaked in blood but he was still walking about. Next the group suddenly took Irushan and ran. Most likely to the hospital.

Police say that the two groups involved in the fight are “Vaikanmathi” and Eagles, two gangs in Maafannu.

Murder of Faathiru:

Police say that Faathiru was involved in the fight where Irushan was stabbed. The video of the attack on Faathiru shows him opening the door to his residence and two people forcing their way in. One of them is a minor. The other is believed to be over the age of 18.

The younger of the two that barged is seen pulling out a knife from his shorts and attacking Faathiru.

According to the Police, Faathiru tried to climb up the stairs inside but was attack on the stairs as well.

While most involved in the two attacks are minors, Police that they have been identified and is in the process of being arrested.

Police said that Irushan and Faathiru who were killed in the attacks had criminal records with the Police.
