Malaysia to give 90-day on arrival VISA to Maldivians

Malaysian government has decided to give a 90-day on arrival VISA to Maldivians starting tomorrow.

Maldivian High Commissioner in Malaysia, Mohamed Fahumee Hassan told Sun Media that President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom held discussion with the Malaysian government get a 90-day on arrival VISA to Maldivian citizens travelling to Malaysia.

Fahumee said that the Malaysian government agreed to grant 90-day on arrival VISA to Maldivians and made the announcement today after making the necessary arrangements.

He said that there are a number of Maldivians living in Malaysia and a large number of Maldivian students and the change gives the parents to stay with the students.

High Commissioner Fahumee noted that there are direct flights between Maldives and Malaysia through Air Asia, Singapore Airlines and Sri Lankan Airlines and there are a large number of Maldivians travelling on those flights and the change in VISA procedure for Maldivians would provide a lot of ease to the people.

A statement issued by the Foreign Ministry today said that this was a symbol of friendship between Maldives and Malaysia and is a gesture that the Maldivian government highly appreciates.

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and the First Lady, Madam Fathimath Ibrahim left for Malaysia on Sunday night to participate in the “Permata International Conference: Children Beyond Tomorrow” being held between 31 May and 2 June.
