As Vaavu atoll Fulidhoo prepares for the upcoming Environment Day, all the waste in the island was removed from the island yesterday.

President of the Fulidhoo Island Council, Moosa Faaiz told Sun Media today that a 100 feet long boat full of waste from the island was transported to Thilafushi yesterday.

He said that removing waste from the island is done every six months but it has now been over six months since the last disposal.

And so as part of the preparations for the Environment Day, the first thing was to clear all waste from the island and there are more events planned for the Environment Day preparation.

That includes cleaning the island lagoon, cutting trees that are on the road to make the roads brighter and a special workshop on waste management.
