More flats to be built in Hulhumalé targeted for 7000 people

A decision has been made to build more housing units in Hulhumalé for 7000 middle class people.

Talking to Sun Media regarding the Hulhumalé development, the Managing Director of the Housing Development Corporation, Mohamed Saiman said that 700 middle class housing units would be contracted in the next two weeks.

Companies to be contracted include Rainbow, Apollo, Damas and other such companies.

Saiman said that every building is on average targeted to be completed in two years and so are expecting total completion in 2017.

The housing units are to be built at the STO hotel area.

A number of government housing projects are underway in an effort to provide housing to the people. While five companies have been contracted to build 15,000 housing units in Hulhumalé, the government says that it is project to provide housing for 60,000 people.
