BroadCom opens licensing for rebroadcasting across the country

Broadcasting Commission of the Maldives has opened application to apply for the license to rebroadcast across the Maldives.

A statement from the BroadCom said that 29 June is the deadline for applications by the qualified parties.

Broadcasting Law states that the channel requesting the rebroadcasting must have a valid broadcasting license in another country along with the content rights.

BroadCom said that the application forms would be available from their reception counter and the website.

While rebroadcasting license has been issued to 111 channels, the permit has only been issued to the telecommunication company, Dhiraagu.

The Broadcasting Commission said that Dhiraagu was given permission to rebroadcast across the country from April 2013 to 29 January 2023.

And they said that Dhiraagu was given the permission because no other company applied for the permit when the rebroadcasting opportunity was opened.
