Minister of Home Affairs, Umar Naseer has said that former Defense Minister Colonel (Retired) Mohamed Nazim’s case will be re-investigated as per instructions of Supreme Court, if there is new evidence pertaining to the case.
Umar spoke to “Sun” on Sunday and said that the case would be re-investigated as per instructions of Supreme Court, if there is new evidence pertaining to the case, that was not discovered in the original investigation run by police.
Umar said that he did not wish for there to be any blame directed towards the government in Nazim’s case.
Speaking to press after filing for appeal with Supreme Court, Nazim’s attorney, Husnu Suood said that they were now sure the weapons found in Nazim’s apartment were planted there. And knew the identity of the man who planted them.
Suood said that they had submitted the name of the man as evidence when they filed for appeal.
Umar said that it would be investigated by police, if indeed the evidence was worthy of investigation.
“I want to investigate it if the claim that the pistol was planted in Nazim’s apartment is true,” said Umar.
Nazim was sentenced to 11 years in prison based on police testimony that a pistol and three bullets were found in Nazim’s apartment.
