Statistics published by Ministry of Tourism shows a rise in tourist arrivals to the country in the month of April by 3.6 percent.
Statistics show 103,496 tourists visited the country last April, a 3.6 percent increase compared to 102,2242 tourists that visited the country in April, 2015.
The most tourist arrivals to the country so far this year have come from European countries.
227,294 tourists from different European countries have visited the country so far this year.
The second highest tourist arrivals are from Asia Pacific countries.
Statistics show 184,291 tourists have visited the country from the region so far this year.
Looking at individual countries – the most number of tourists that visited the country this year have come from China.
104,106 tourists have visited the country from China this year. However, this is a 9.7 drop when compared to the same period of time, last year.
447,659 tourists have visited Maldives during the first quarter of 2016, 50.8 percent of whom came from European countries.
