Maldivian Minister for Defense, Adam Shareef Umar – who is on an official visit to Pakistan, has visited the biggest military weapons factory in the country.
Pakistani media reported that Adam Shareef visited the Pakistani Ordinance Factory (POF) run by Pakistan Defense Production Ministry, located in West Punjab, on Wednesday.
Adam Shareef and the rest of the Maldivian delegation went through the military weapons produced in the factory and observed the production process.
Pakistani newspaper “The Nation” reported that Adam Shareef expressed Maldivian government’s interest for the weapons produced in the factory, during the visit.
POF officials informed the Maldivian delegation that the factory had the ability to produce the quality and quantity of weapons needed for Maldivian military.
It has been reported that Chairman of POF Board of Directors, Lieutenant-General Umar Mahmood Hayaat said that the factory produced more than what was needed by the country, and that the factory already exported weapons produced in the country to 30 different countries.
Military weapons produced in the factory includes explosives, bullets, motor, rockets, and protective gear.
POF is a big military complex that has 14 defense production units, 14 subsidiary companies, and employees over 26,000 people.
Adam Shareef has already met with Pakistan Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Raheel Sharif during his visit, discussing ways to strengthen military ties between the two countries.
