The Maldivian government has decided to provide financial aid to those affected in the torrential rains in Sri Lanka.
President’s Office said that the government decided on providing the aid following the floods across Sri Lanka along with landslides in some area which left a number of people in need of assistance.
Minister of Economic Development, Mohamed Saeed has departed to Sri Lanka today as a Special Envoy of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
Sri Lankan Officials have said that over half a million of people had to be evacuated due to the torrential rain. Officials have so far reported 64 deaths across the country due to landslides.
Authorities are still looking for 132 people that went missing in the landslide. But the security forces have said that the chances of finding them alive are now slim.
