Maldives Association for Travel Agencies and Tour Operators (MATATO) has introduced a new trophy along with five new categories to the Maldives Travel Award.
The annual Maldives Travel Award has now grown to be a prestigious award in the tourism sector after it was first introduced in 2012.
The MATATO Travel Awards would be organized by Think Associates as opposed to High Rise that has been organizing the awards before.
Speaking at a special ceremony held at Hotel Jen today to introduce the new categories and reveal the new trophy, Secretary General of MATATO, Ibrahim Munaz said that awards would be presented to resorts, guesthouses, guesthouse island and other tourism related sectors this year as well.
With the five, newly introduced categories this year, Leading Marketing Program, Leading Human Resource Management, Leading Guesthouse Island, Leading F&B Outlet and Leading Airport Lounge, the number of categories in the Maldives Travel Awards have risen to 35.
President of MATATO, Abdulla Giyas said that the date for this year’s award show has not yet been decided but the date and venue would be announced soon and open the voting.
