Man arrested for robbing Mahibadhoo shop

Police have arrested a man from A. Dh. Mahibadhoo in connection with a robbery that took place at the shop “Farimoo” on the island last Friday night.

Police reported that the 21-year-old Maldivian man was arrested at 2:30 am, early Saturday morning, attempting to board a boat to Male’ from southern harbor of the island.

Police have also recovered the money and prepaid phone cards stolen by the man, after breaking down the door of the shop.

MVR 45,700 was found hidden inside the tights he was wearing during the body check after his arrest, and MVR 7,370 in cash and 16 MVR 50 Ooredoo prepaid phone cards and 23 MVR 100

It was found rolled up inside a mat on top of a cement water storage in the bath area of his residence.

The suspect has been remanded 15-days during which time he will be kept in a place specified by Home Ministry.
