President Waheed calls for more benefits for civil servants with children

Former President, Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has said that he hopes that women with children among the civil servants would receive extra benefits when the Civil Service Benefits are set.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Civil Service Conference that began yesterday, organized by the Civil Service Commission, Dr. Waheed said that it is women that are working confidently in the Civil Service but they face some challenges.

“Their (women’s) responsibility in the family life is very big. Work balance can’t be achieved, if (they) come to work and are worried about the house and thinking about it all the time. So (they) can be relaxed at work and be with love for their job if they have the guarantee that family matters are settled.” President Dr. Waheed said.

Ex-President Dr. Waheed said that while talking about the benefits of the Civil Servants, the children of the employees must be thought upon.

“Small children and school age children must be remembered. Their matters, the biggest responsibility of the children is on their mothers.” President Dr. Waheed said.

The former President said that the road to improving things in the private sector is improving the work and services in the public sector or the Civil Service.
