A seven-month-old baby boy being treated at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) died of dengue fever on Wednesday.
IGMH information officer Zeenath Ali Habeeb informed “Sun” that the boy passed away while being treated at Intensive Care Unit of the hospital, at 12:10 pm.
Zeenath said that the boy was transported from F. Atoll Hospital on May 3, and that he was in critical condition when brought there.
“His condition was critical even when he was brought here. He was taken straight to ICU,” said Zeenath.
The baby boy comes from a family in Dh. Meedhoo.
A 35-year-old female dengue patient being treated at G. Dh. Faresmaathoda passed away on Tuesday; bringing an end to “zero fatality rate” from dengue this year.
Health Ministry has said that dengue cases reported across the country have risen to worrying numbers once more.
