President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that ending everything as the powerful person wants is not a regulation the government believes in.
Speaking at the inauguration of the sewage system in Laamu Gan today, President Yameen said that so far no one who has had their rights violated has no guarantee that their rights can be assured in Maldives.
“A deer in the morning would say, “Today I have to run faster than the fastest lion here. Or else I would be eaten, I’ll have no life.” In Maldives so far, things are like this. No weak man, no one that loses his right has the guarantee that his rights would be restored.” President said.
The President said that the powerful man and the weak man must be able to live at the same place and the government is working to establish that.
President Yameen said that even if the powerful man has some rights, there comes a point where he must give up those rights the moment he enters the court.
And with it, there are weak people in the government as well, the President said, and there will be people who would not have everything fulfilled.
President Abdulla Yameen said that someone has to assure the constitutional rights of everyone. And said that a government is elected to establish a social justice.
