As part of the Visit Maldives Year 2016 and to promote Maldivian tourism, roadshows have begun today in four cities in France.
Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) said that the roadshows are being held at Paris, Lille, Lyon and Marseille.
A total of 15 officials from 11 Maldivian companies along with the Deputy Managing Director of MMPRC, Mohamed Adam are taking part at the MMPRC roadshows in France held through up to Thursday.
MMPRC said that the purpose of these roadshows is to increase the number of French tourists visiting the Maldives. The number of French tourists visiting the country has dropped in the past three years. MMPRC said that the French media and trade community would be informed on the latest of Maldivian tourism.
According to the MMPRC, a lottery would be taken among the visitors at every roadshow where the winner gets a free vacation at the Maldives. The vacation is sponsored by Crown and Champa Resorts, Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru and AAA Hotels and Resorts.
So far 16,425 French tourists have visited the Maldives in the first quarter of the year. With a market share of 4.8 percent, it is the fifth largest market to the Maldivian tourism.
MMPRC has also planned roadshows in four cities of India within the month.
