Calligraphy workshops begin with Chinese experts

A series of special workshops have begun in Maldives with Chinese expert to teach calligraphy to Maldivians.

The workshops are being conducted by a joint cooperation of the National Center for the Arts (NCA), United Artists of Maldives (UAM) and the China-Maldives Cultural Association (CMCA) registered in the Maldives.

Co-Founder of the CMCA, Ali Waheed told Sun Media that the workshops teaching calligraphy of Dhivehi and Arabic fonts is their first such program with NCA and UMA.

Ten experts from the Shaanxi Han Tang Cultural Creative Institutes of China would be teaching at the workshops. And the workshops would be conducted in Addu City and Raa Atoll aside from Malé City.

While 32 locals are taking part in the three-day workshop that began at the National Art Gallery today, CMCA’s Ali Waheed said that about 20 Maldivians would be taking part in the workshops in Addu City and Raa Atoll.
