“Haveeru” fire was extinguished before it could spread

A fire was set to the main Administration Office of Haveeru News Media late last night which was extinguished before it could spread to the building.

The fire was set at the reception area of the office causing major damages to some of the furniture and other goods. But the Police extinguished the fire it could spread to the rest of the building.

Police on duty from the Galolhu Police Station were first at the scene extinguishing the fire using the fire equipment in the building.

A witness on scene said that a man jumped over the wall of the courtyard of the Haveeru building and fled after throwing away a bag.

When journalists arrived on scene, a bag was outside the building along with a cap. The bag was open with a five-liter bottle visible on the inside.

But it is unclear what was inside the bottle.

There has been no official word from the Police or the MNDF regarding the fire.
