Adhaalath Party has called for the immediate implementation of the actions suggested to the Maldives by the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) on Wednesday.
Although the Maldives was not included on the CMAG agenda, a statement was released after the meeting saying that there has been no progress in the granting of basic civil rights to the people of Maldives.
CMAG said that it needs evidence of progress with the all-party talks and wands a roadmap on achieving the goals.
A CMAG meeting has been scheduled for September to evaluate the implementation of their conditions by the Maldives. The organization said that steps would be taken accordingly as per the progress of the goals.
Adhaalath Party issued a statement yesterday saying that they call for quick action on the ideas and instructions by CMAG and other international organizations regarding the illegal arrests of political prisoners and the depleting trust of the Judiciary System.
Fisheries Minister, Dr. Mohamed Shainee, who was leading the all-party talks, previously said that CMAG noted the support by the government for the discussions. And call to all of the political parties in the country to give their support to the talks.
