Colonel Nazim transferred to house arrest for a month

Former Defense Minister Colonel (Retired) Mohamed Nazim – who I serving a 11-year prison sentence – has been transferred to house arrest.

Nazim arrived in Maldives at 11:45 am, Thursday morning, after Maldives Correctional Service ordered him to cut short his visit to Singapore for medical care and return back to the country.

Meanwhile, Adhaalath Party leader Imran Abdulla and former Defense Minister Tholhath Ibrahim Kaleyfaan – both serving prison sentences in Himmafushi Asseyri Prison have also been transferred to house arrest.

Nazim was sent to prison after he was found guilty of owning the pistol found in his apartment during a police raid on his apartment while he was still Defense Minister.

He lost on appeal at High Court but has made the decision to push the issue with Supreme Court.
