Charges have been dropped against national football team member As’had Ali (Adubarey) for taking photograph of Judge Abdul Baary Yoosuf – who is in charge of Criminal Court – and threatening him, due to insufficient evidence.
Police informed Adubarey on Thursday that there wasn’t enough evidence against him, and they had therefore decided to file the case.
Adubarey was arrested last February, and jailed for 13 days.
Complaint regarding the incident was filed with Criminal in a letter signed by Judge Baary. And included a photograph showing the license plate of the motorcycle the alleged harasser drove.
Baary also quoted what Adubarey allegedly said to him when he took the photo.
“I need to take your picture. We know what you judges are up to. Do what you want. I will take your picture,” quoted Baary in the letter.
Judge Baary requested that Adubarey be charged under law to protect dignity of courts, or any other law applicable.
Adubarey, who plays a key role in national football team and Maziya SC lost the opportunity to perform in three important matches due to the incident – including two AFC Cup matches and charity shield match played to open current football season.
