Home Minister Umar Naseer has made a request to review the retraction of the former President Mohamed Nasheed’s medical leave extension of 30 days.
Minister Umar Naseer told Sun Media tonight that he made a request to review the retraction at the Medical Board of the Maldives Correctional Service. He said that the request was not related to the concerns raised by the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG).
While the Home Minister has said this, CMAG issued a statement after the meeting today in London raising concerns about the retractions of medical leaves of some political figures in the Maldives.
Commissioner of Prisons, Mohamed Husham made the formal announcement that President Nasheed’s medical extension has been retraction. He has now been informally suspended and asked not to attend his duties. Regarding the suspension, Minister Naseer said that it is under investigation and cannot comment on it.
Husham said that the medical extension was retraction after the legal counsel of Ex-President Nasheed refutes the medical documents sent by President Nasheed about having a surgery today.
