Former Prosecutor General (PG), Muhuthaaz Muhusin has gone to a plea of not guilty in the terrorism charge against him in attempt to illegally arrest President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
Muhuthaaz pleaded not guilty at the hearing in his care today at the Criminal Court.
While the state claims that the former PG forged an arrest warrant for the President in the name of Maafushi Court, Muhuthaaz asked why he would go Maafushi Court if he had the stamp of Maamigili Court.
The former PG said that while he is being accused of making a false court order, the state has not entered such a document into evidence and so has the opportunity to create evidence.
The charge against the PG says that he accompanied some others and went to Maamigili on a launch on the night of 7 February 2016 around 2:45 a.m. and met with the Chief Judge of the Maamigili Magistrate Court.
The charge comes under Article 6-B of the Anti-Terrorism Law in reference to Article 4-A (1,2), 5-A(2) and 6-A.
The other charges against the former PG are forgery and misuse of official documents.
Lawyer Husnu Suood said that his client cannot respond fully until the state provides the evidence of the crimes.
