Former People’s Majlis MP Ahmed Nazim has said that he will not return back to country despite insistence by Maldives Correctional Service until his medical treatment is over.
He said that via a letter sent to MCS through his lawyer Fareesha Abdulla.
In the letter, Nazim said that he went abroad for treatment after spending days admitted in hospital when his health worsened due to insufficient healthcare provided in jail.
He said that Nazim went abroad for three surgeries. And that he had as of now undergone only two surgeries.
He said that MCS ordering him to stop the medical care he was undergoing for such a serious matter showed that the authority was treating him “cruelly” and “inhumanely”.
Nazim said in the letter that he would not return until he completed his medical treatment.
The former Deputy People’s Majlis Speaker is serving a life sentence for graft.
