Majlis approves 6 people nominated by President for BroadCom

People’s Majlis on Monday approved six people nominated by President Abdulla Yameen for Maldives Broadcasting Commission (BroadCom).

People approved by Majlis for BroadCom:

1. Mohamed Shaheeb, H. Reethigasdhoshuge

2. Zeena Zahir, G. A. Gadhdhoo, Athireege

3. Aminath Saharath Izzath, G. Gofi

4. Fathimath Zaina, K. Dhiffushi, Huvandhumaage

5. Ismail Sofwan, Lh. Hinnavaru, Falaha

6. Hassan Nabah, V. Veronica

Two of the people approved for BroadCom – Sofwan and Nabah – had received below 75 percent points during review by Committee for Independent Institutions, while Mariyam Waheedha – who received highest points during committee review process - with 81.3 percent points failed to garner enough votes.

Points are given during committee review process based on educational qualification, training, experience, capability, talent and integrity.

It was stated in committee report that those who score above 75 percent points are deemed to be worthy of being appointed to the commission.
