Adheeb and two bodyguards given seven days to assign lawyer in "Finifenmaa" case

Criminal Court has given a period of seven days to the former Vice President Ahmed Adheeb and his two bodyguards Hassan Rikaaz and Afza Ahmed Amir to assign legal representation in the case of against them for detonating an explosive on board the Presidential Launch "Finifenmaa."

Presenting the case at the hearing today, the state prosecutor said that on 27 September 2015, Adheeb and his two bodyguards collaborated to plant an IED on board the Presidential Launch. And on 28 September, the IED was detonated around around 8 a.m. while the launched was docking at the Izzuddeen Jetty injuring many.

When the Judges asked if the defendants are clear on the charges, Adheeb said that he can say if he understands or not in the presence of a lawyer.

Rikaz and Amir both said that they want to continue in the presence of a lawyer.

The charges were brought up under Article 6-B of the previous Anti-Terrorism Law in reference to the sections E, F and H of Article 2.

A Judges bench of three are on the case including the Judges Ahmed Rasheed, Saeed Ibrahim and Ibrahim Ali.

The next hearing in the case is set to be on 10 April.
