The first direct flight of Saudi Arabian Airlines to Maldives arrived at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA) at 9:15 am on Wednesday and met with huge celebration – Maldivian style.
Flight SV786, which came from Riyad, was greeted upon arrival to a water salute and performance of Maldivian traditional Boduberu dance.
The tourists from Saudi Arabia who arrived on the flight was personally greeted by Managing Director of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), Adhil Moosa, as well as senior government officials and senior officials of MACL.
Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) will be operating direct flights between Saudi Arabia and Maldives from now.
The aviation agreement between Saudi Arabia and Maldives was officially signed on Tuesday.
The agreement also authorizes flight operation between the two countries to Maldivian airlines.
