Assessment to be made on the mental state of Shaahidha during Shaiha's murder

Maldives Police Service has said that Aminath Shaahidha has confessed to three murder of her four-year-old Fathimath Shaiha Fayaz and so an assessment would be made as to her mental state when the crime was committed.

At press conference held today, Chief Superintendent Mohamed Riyaz said that the Pilce is working to bring Shaahidha to Malé City and consult a doctor regarding her mental and physical state and do a psychological assessment.

Superintendent Riyaz said that Shaahidha is originally from Nuoomara and moved to Funadhoo in 2008 after marrying Fayaz Ali.

And then she moved back to Noomara a few days before her looking her daughter.

Shaiha was murdered with a sharp object on 11 February 2016 at Reedus Villa, Noomara.

Riyaz said that Shaahidha had trouble sleeping when she was in Funadhoo and was taking medication given by Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital for psychological treatment.

He also said that Fayaz Ali, e father, was in Thaa Atoll on carpentry work.

Four-year-old Shaiha had a total of ten stab wounds on the neck, chin, shoulder and her right hand.

The Police said that they are working to speed up the investigation.
