Foreign drug smuggler caught

A Bangladeshi national who was smuggling drugs through Sri Lanka has been caught.

Maldives Customs said that the 22-year-old brought the drugs on 13 March.

After the passenger clearance officers suspected the man during his baggage x-ray, good bag was searched where a rubber packet of sealed drugs were found.

Customs said that the drugs tested positive for cannabis and weighed 909 grams with the packing.

The custody of the drugs and the person involved has now been handed over to the Police.
